Parent Training is highly beneficial in the practice of ABA. In order for a child to appropriately progress, the same expectations and interventions should be used in all settings. To help with this, Parent Training is offered to parents to help them learn to use the same techniques at home that school staff are using with the child. Parents can contact the school or Beck Behavior Therapy to set up parent training. Training is scheduled at a time convenient for parents in a virtual or in-person format. Materials will be provided to parents to help them understand all techniques.
Our school consultation services begin with direct classroom observation. A review of records will be completed including the current IEP (if applicable), any diagnostic testing information, discipline referrals, and any other information deemed important to the case. An interview with related school officials will take place to gain insight into the behavior concerns, how they are currently addressed, and direct the analyst to all possible variables of the behavior. Classroom observation will follow where the analyst watches over a period of several hours on different days to record detailed notes about the student.
Next, the behavior analyst will write up a detailed behavior intervention plan detailing the suspected functions of behavior as well as recommending protocols for teachers to implement to address the behavior.
The analyst will attend an IEP meeting or meeting with the parent of the child to review all of the findings. Staff will be trained in implementing the protocols and provided a data sheet. The behavior analyst will follow up periodically with the teacher to review data and protocols for adjustments.
Your child will be observed for approximately four hours in the classroom environment to determine what behaviors they will need help with. An individualized behavior plan will be developed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. School staff that work with your child will be trained on implementing the plan and taught how to take data on the behaviors. The Behavior Analyst will check in with school staff often to make sure the plan is working. Adjustments will be made as needed.
We offer community outings for clients as part of their therapy process. Our RBTs meet the client at a specific community setting such as a park, restaurant, or store, to continue to work on their goals. This is an important part of the therapy process and ensures that the client generalizes their skills to settings outside of the clinic.
